Good morning, North Jefferson Elementary School families. Our Lifetouch Yearbook online sales are now open. See the image for online ordering details. Online sales will be extended past the April 8, 2026 due date.
Hard copy forms about school sales will be sent home next week when students return to school. Disregard the March 27, 2026 due date as a printing error was caught just as we were getting ready to send home the forms before spring break.
Supplies are limited so order your keepsake soon!

Please call for an appointment at 304-725-9587.
Please note you must register at your home school.
We can't wait to meet our new stars!

Help us keep our attendance records accurate! If your student has been absent in the last few days without a note, please submit the reason here: Submit An Absence Note. This helps us track local health trends and ensures we're supporting our students the best we can. Thanks for your help!
Just a reminder, the fifth grade panoramic picture is tomorrow, March 26th!
Just a reminder: being "chronically absent" means that your child has missed 10% or more of their school year-regardless of the absences being excused or not. This status tells us that the amount of school your child has missed can put them at risk of falling behind academically and socially.
The good news is, there is still time to turn this around. Sending your child to school as consistently as possible can remove this status and get them back on track!
If you have any questions or need help brainstorming, please reach at to Addison Tucker at: addison.tucker@k12.wv.us or call at (304) 728-5361
Weather permitting, tomorrow, March 17 is our Spring Picture Day.
Our Krispy Kreme Donut fundraiser is due. Please send in money and orders.
Thank you!
Jefferson County Schools will operate on a modified Non-Traditional Instruction Day (NTID) on Monday, March 16. All evening activities are canceled.
This decision was made after monitoring the weather throughout the weekend and consulting with the National Weather Service Charleston, WV, office this evening. Forecasted severe storms, including high winds up to 80 mph, heavy rain, and the potential for tornadoes, are creating too much uncertainty to plan for either an early or standard dismissal tomorrow afternoon. Keeping students at home helps us avoid putting them or our staff in harm's way.
What This Means for Your Student:
- Students will not report to school tomorrow and will complete their learning from home.
- K–5 students will find assignments and information posted in Rooms, as we did not send devices home for Canvas access.
- 6–12 students should follow the normal NTID process and connect with their teachers through their usual platforms.
- Teachers and staff will be available to support students from 9:15 am – 12:00 pm.
All LSIC meetings scheduled for tomorrow are cancelled and will be rescheduled. Math Field Day has been postponed to Wednesday, March 18.
Thank you for your understanding and partnership as we work to keep everyone safe.
Tuesday, March 17 will be our spring picture day. Class pictures will also be taken. Dress your best, STARS!

This is just a reminder that tonight is our Annual Title I Meeting, and Math Madness event. We look forward to seeing you at NJES from 5:00-7:00PM!
Thank you,

In addition, we have a slight change from our newsletter. Students will return from Spring Break on Monday, April 13!
We hope you are enjoying the spirit days of Read Across America week! This is a reminder that tomorrow is Spring Picture Day and it is also Read to a Friend Day (bring your favorite stuffy).
Thank you!

Read Across America week kicks off Monday with Dr. Suess's Birthday! Students are welcome to dress wacky or like their favorite book character. Tuesday, students are invited to bring a stuffed animal to read with. Also, please remember it is Spring Picture Day Tuesday!
Thank you!
Tuesday, March 3 will be Read with a Friend - bring your favorite stuffed animal.
Friday, March 6 will be Cozy Up with a Good Book - wear pajamas, sweats or a soft sweater.
Thank you for your patience and flexibility!
If you are dropping off your child(ren) after 8:50 or picking them up early you will need to buzz in at the main entrance to announce you are here, then go to Door 3 (Parent Drop Off/Pick Up area) to sign out and pick up your child.
Respectfully,
Joyce Ashworth
NJES Principal
Did you know that students and families have 3 days after the student returns to school to submit an absence note to the school to have an absence excused? Please do not wait to submit your absence note, but if you do forget, you have three days to get it in! If you have any questions or concerns regarding your child's ability to come to school consistently, please feel free to reach out to Addison Tucker at addison.tucker@k12.wv.us for resources, brainstorming, and more!
March 11th will be our Annual Title I Meeting, from 5:00-7:00pm. All families are encouraged to attend. We will have Math games for students in the gym, so that parents may view resources available to them as a Title I school. We will have information regarding iReady, IEPS, Zero to Three, preK to Kindergarten Transition, and more! Permission forms will be going home with your student today, and you should expect a call from a staff member regarding this event!
Thank you,
Joyce Ashworth
Our Friendship Dance was the perfect way to celebrate Friendship Week and our attendance goals. STARS had a blast dancing, playing games, creating art and spending time with their friends. See you all next Tuesday!
