Hello NJE families!
Did you know our students are participating in a grade level attendance challenge? Each week, the grade with the highest attendance percentage earns a point-and whichever grade has the most points by the end of the year gets to name our star mascot! Help your child/children's grade out by keeping their attendance strong up until the last day!

CANVAS UPDATE: 5/8/2026
Canvas was down the evening of Thursday, May 7, 2026, due to a reported data breach. Early reports indicate this impacts over 8,000+ public schools, colleges, and institutions across the country. JCS is an impacted organization.
Indications so far are that the information involved includes student/staff names, JCS/WVDE-issued student/staff ID numbers (not social security numbers), email addresses, and messages between users on the platform.
JCS has no evidence of a compromise to internal district systems. Our Technology Team is actively assessing impact and implementing precautionary safeguards.
We will continue to monitor the situation and share updates as needed. For more information, visit the Instructure Incident Updates & FAQs: https://www.instructure.com/incident_update
Our lost and found collection is growing! Please have your children come and check to see if they are missing anything. We want to make sure everything is returned before the end of the year. Thank you!
Parents, in the next few days some of you will be contacted because your student is right on the edge of being considered chronically absent-which means there is still time to keep them out of this designation! If you have any questions about what this means or how you can help your student's attendance, please reach out to Addison Tucker at addison.tucker@k12.wv.us or call at (304) 728-5361.
The Scholastic BOGO Book Fair will be open Monday, May 4 to ensure that all students will have an opportunity to shop if they would like. Thank you for your patience and support!
Thursday, April 30th is the deadline for ordering a school yearbook. This is a great memento of our STAR-filled year! The website is ybpay.lifetouch.com and the code is 11181826. Thank you!
JCS Communities: All JCS schools have been released from their SECURE or LOCKDOWN. WMS families will be picking their students up at Sam Micahels Park today. We ask that you follow your regular pickup practice, as not to overwhelm our schools or roads as law enforcement continue their work..

Good afternoon North Jefferson families,
We kindly ask for your cooperation in helping keep our car loop safe and efficient for everyone. If you utilize the car loop during pickup or drop-off, please remember to exercise patience and caution while waiting your turn.
We understand that everyone is on a schedule, but rushing, cutting ahead, or not following the established flow can create unsafe conditions for students, staff, and other families. Taking a few extra moments to move carefully and respectfully through the line makes a big difference in keeping the process smooth and secure.
Thank you for your attention to this and for helping us maintain a safe environment for all of our students.
We truly appreciate your cooperation.
