Hurricane Relief Donations
Dear NJES Family, Hurricane Relief Donations are being collected at NJES this Thursday and Friday from 9AM to 3PM. This collection effort is being led by WHS Key Club. In order to assist the impacted people in North Carolina, Key Club is seeking the following items: bottled water, heavy duty trash bags, sports drinks/mixes, bug spray, cleaning supplies, heavy duty gloves, diapers, sanitary products, wipes, & pet food. A flier with more information will be coming home with students tomorrow. Note that if you are just dropping off donations at the school, please ring the buzzer and let us know you're there for that purpose. We will come outside and collect the goods as soon as we can.

Dear NJES Families, We have two clubs starting soon! Books, Bikes, and Basketball club and K-Kids. First up is the Books, Bikes, and Basketball Club. This upcoming Thursday (Oct. 3rd) at 3:45, we are holding an "assembly day" where interested staff, family, and community members help us assemble various bikes, (including tricycles, scooters, Big Wheels, and more) so they are ready for the BBB club's first official meeting on Thursday, Oct. 10th. Permission slips for students to join the club will be going home next week, with grades 3, 4, & 5 having first dibs on the open spots. The number of students who can participate will depend on how many adult volunteers we have, so please let us know if you're interested. If you do want to help, please read the attached letter, and email the PTO President Natalie Corley at nataliekayw@gmail.com or Principal Priscilla Rodd at prodd@k12.wv.us. Note that any adult volunteers will need to provide ID and be run through our system before they are approved to participate in school programs. K-Kids forms will also be coming home soon, and the first meeting date is Oct. 16th. As always, thank you for your support, and we hope you have a wonderful weekend. NJES admin

To NJES families, One of our goals this year is to welcome more families into our school. With that in mind, here is our policy for those who want to eat lunch with their children. NJES Lunch Policy for Guardians: Guardians can eat school lunch with their children every day of the week, except on days with an early release or 2-hour delay. If guardians want to eat the school lunch, they need to call and alert the school before 10 AM in the morning. Guardians are encouraged to eat the school lunch, rather than bring in outside food so that we limit distraction and feelings of jealousy. Because of limited space at our student tables, guardians and students will be asked to eat at a table near the back of the cafeteria. Guardians need to be careful and not photograph any other students, beyond their own children, when they are in the school. If more than 6 guardians are signed up to eat lunch with their children, other guardians will be asked to come another day. Note, we will not be able to accommodate guardians eating at school during the week of Thanskgiving.
