North Jefferson's kindergarten students had the purr-fect audience to read to! They visited Jefferson County's Animal Welfare Society this week to read to the shelter cats. Kindergartners have worked really hard this year to learn to read and were excited to show what they know! While there, they also learned about the shelter and enjoyed a picnic lunch out on the lawn. Additionally, kindergarten had collected items to donate and took yummy dog treats that they had made.

Created in 2022, Black Men Read is a collaborative effort between artists, educators, and parents focused on building relationships with supportive community members.
