Notes can be sent in with your child or submitted to the school office on paper OR by using our virtual attendance support number (304) 403-8631(only if you are listed as a guardian of that child will your text go through). Keeping absences documented helps us keep your child's attendance records accurate 🌟.
We are excited to offer our Caring for Classrooms Gift Card Fundraiser through School
Store! This is an easy way for families to directly support their child’s classroom.
We are sending home information today, so please check your child's backpack or folder to find out more. We appreciate everything our families do to support NJES STARS!
Happy Friday!
Today we started our second week of school! It has been wonderful to see our students learning in class, playing with friends at recess, and enjoying time together at lunch.
We also completed two practice safety drills today. We will continue to practice these drills throughout the school year to help keep everyone prepared and safe.
We are asking all families to complete their annual emergency update forms. It is important that we have the most up-to-date information for your child, including emergency contacts and photo permissions.
So far, 25% of our families have completed their updates. Let's work together to reach 100% by the end of the week!
Please use the attached flyer and QR code to update your family's information.
Thank you for your partnership and support. We are looking forward to a great school year!

North Jefferson Elementary School
North Jefferson is now using Attendance Pro, a texting system that makes communicating about attendance easier.
Text (304) 403-8631 to report an absence, send a parent/doctor's note, or let us know about an attendance concern or barrier.
You may also receive a text from Attendance Pro if your child is absent. Just reply to the message! Your response will be recorded and shared with our attendance secretary, who can respond directly if needed.
Save (304) 403-8631 in your phone so you have it when you need it!
If you have any concerns about your child's ability to attend school consistently, and/or need access to resources of any kind, please reach out to Addison Tucker at addison.tucker@k12.wv.us or call 304-728-5361

CANVAS UPDATE: 5/8/2026
Canvas was down the evening of Thursday, May 7, 2026, due to a reported data breach. Early reports indicate this impacts over 8,000+ public schools, colleges, and institutions across the country. JCS is an impacted organization.
Indications so far are that the information involved includes student/staff names, JCS/WVDE-issued student/staff ID numbers (not social security numbers), email addresses, and messages between users on the platform.
JCS has no evidence of a compromise to internal district systems. Our Technology Team is actively assessing impact and implementing precautionary safeguards.
We will continue to monitor the situation and share updates as needed. For more information, visit the Instructure Incident Updates & FAQs: https://www.instructure.com/incident_update

Parents, in the next few days some of you will be contacted because your student is right on the edge of being considered chronically absent-which means there is still time to keep them out of this designation! If you have any questions about what this means or how you can help your student's attendance, please reach out to Addison Tucker at addison.tucker@k12.wv.us or call at (304) 728-5361.
