Monarch Alliance Butterfly Garden Planting Opportunity!
Please join Miss Traci and our gardening team on Saturday, June 20, 2026, as we continue to expand our school gardens. Planting will begin at 9:30 A.M. and continue until all plants are in the ground. Many hands make light work, so we hope to see you here!

We want your feedback! Please take a moment to complete our JCS Communications and Engagement Survey to help us plan and improve: https://forms.office.com/r/a7sZnG0uuR
Please remember to send your child with a towel, a chance of clothes, extra shoes/socks, water bottle, hat and sunscreen. Students must wear sneakers, Crocs or other closed-toed shoes.
We appreciate your flexibility to ensure a fun day for everyone!
Please enter through the black top (there will be balloons and signs)! See you then!
Did you know our students are participating in a grade level attendance challenge? Each week, the grade with the highest attendance percentage earns a point-and whichever grade has the most points by the end of the year gets to name our star mascot! Help your child/children's grade out by keeping their attendance strong up until the last day!
Thank you for your continued support and have a wonderful weekend!

CANVAS UPDATE: 5/8/2026
Canvas was down the evening of Thursday, May 7, 2026, due to a reported data breach. Early reports indicate this impacts over 8,000+ public schools, colleges, and institutions across the country. JCS is an impacted organization.
Indications so far are that the information involved includes student/staff names, JCS/WVDE-issued student/staff ID numbers (not social security numbers), email addresses, and messages between users on the platform.
JCS has no evidence of a compromise to internal district systems. Our Technology Team is actively assessing impact and implementing precautionary safeguards.
We will continue to monitor the situation and share updates as needed. For more information, visit the Instructure Incident Updates & FAQs: https://www.instructure.com/incident_update

Parents, in the next few days some of you will be contacted because your student is right on the edge of being considered chronically absent-which means there is still time to keep them out of this designation! If you have any questions about what this means or how you can help your student's attendance, please reach out to Addison Tucker at addison.tucker@k12.wv.us or call at (304) 728-5361.
Wednesday, April 29th, we are celebrating earning 5 attendance stars by having a school-wide star party! Make sure your students are wearing their brightest colors, or shiniest outfit so we can shine shine shine!

Please join us tonight from 5:30 - 7:00 for our Scholastic Book Fair Family Event in the Media Center. See you then!

The Fair encourages students to read AND raises much-needed funds for our school.
The easiest way for kids to shop the Fair is by creating and funding your child’s eWallet.
No more worrying about cash, and their balances show right on the register. Visit our school homepage to get started: https://scholastic.com/bf/northjeffersonelemschool"
